We believe feeding a whole natural fish is far superior to a processed fish oil.

Mackerel is a great option to replace commercial fish oils.

Dr. John Bauer, a leading veterinary nutritionist, wrote, "Omega-3 fatty acids are critically important in pet neuromuscular development, skin health, and coat quality."

Mackerel are a great source of EPA and DHA long-chain omega-3 fatty acids but also high in protein, and provides a range of trace minerals which includes natural forms of zinc, antioxidants and a full spectrum of vitamins including D, B12, E and K.

Omega-3's benefits:

  • Alleviating the harmful effects of allergies and other conditions that result from an over reactive immune system response
  • Slowing the growth of common yeast infections
  • Aiding proper development of the retina and visual cortex
  • Regulating blood-clotting activity
  • Slowing the development and spread of certain pet cancers
  • Cardiovascular disorders
  • Cognitive function and neurological health
  • Inflammatory skin disease
  • Kidney disease
  • Osteoarthritis.

Ingredients:

Wild-caught Mackerel

More fish for the pit bull.

My bullmastiff didn’t like it, but my brothers pit bull did.

Takes a bit of extra effort to feed

There is definitely an adjustment period for my dog when feeding whole fish. He will not touch the whole fish, but will eat if if I chop it up into chunks. He likes it, but it does take a bit of extra effort when feeding, as the fish are challenging to break off from the frozen block, and the prep time, but its not a deal breaker. It may take picky eaters time to adjust to whole fish.

We difintely need to do a video on how to get these out of the bag. But the easiest way is to take the entire bag and put in another heavy duty bag. Then drop that entire bag on the ground just like a bag of ice. This is the fastest and easiest way to separate the fish. Next weigh out the amount of fish you want to feed on a flat scale while frozen. Next put all fish in a bowl of warm water and let set for about 5-10 minutes. I'd definitely feed fish outside as the heads go one way and the tails go the other! Or just cut up in chunks. Some dogs don't prefer the tails.

    Raves !!!

We love the wild mackerel. My chows are about 45 pounds and they love a whole fish with their meat...surf and turf! My Coton de Tulear is about 15 pounds, and she gets half a fish. Raw food has kept my dogs very happy, healthy, and beautiful for many years. I am thrilled they enjoy the raw fish so much!

    Nice size

These fish are a good size so that I can split them between my 2 dogs at meal time.

    favorite morning snack

My dog does a little dance when I'm taking a mackerel outside for her! She loves mackerel and reminds me every morning to take one out of the freezer for her to de-thaw. Then she keeps coming to me to give it to her before it has had a chance to completely unthaw.
