Always a fan favorite, Bovine Colostrum is a very popular product around allergy season as it can help relieve allergy symptoms and autoimmune diseases.
Where does colostrum come from?
Colostrum is an important part of the first milk in mammals. Our colostrum is collected from pasture-raised, grass-fed, antibiotic-free and hormone-free cows. Bovine colostrum can be used in many different species.
How is the colostrum collected?
The calves get the colostrum all to themselves for the first 12 hours. After that, the colostrum is collected and shared with the calf. This ensures the calves are protected and healthy since they are a future part of the family farms we work with.
Calves are never separated from their mothers, even during collection time. This ensures the best quality colostrum and an ethical approach to farming. After collection, the colostrum is gently dried into a powder form.
Can colostrum help support the gut?
One of the primary ingredients in colostrum is proline-rich polypeptide (PRP), which is known to help maintain a balanced immune response. Colostrum also contains immunoglobulins (IgG and IgA) that can help support a healthy gut and a balanced immune response.
If my dog has a beef sensitivity, can he still take colostrum?
If your dog has a beef sensitivity, he may still tolerate colostrum since the proteins are different. Colostrum also contains a lot less lactose than milk, so can be tolerated by some dogs with lactose intolerance.
If your dog has a sensitivity to beef or dairy, start with a very small amount or check with your veterinarian.
What’s the best way to give my dog colostrum?
For best results, give your dog colostrum at least 20 minutes before his/her next meal.
You can mix it with a little bit of broth or spring water if you like. This product can be given long term.
Should I store this product in the fridge?
You do not need to store colostrum in the fridge but it’s best to keep it in a cool, dark place away from high temperatures.
Is Bovine Colostrum Pasteurized?
Our bovine colostrum is not pasteurized. It is freeze dried to help maintain beneficial immunoglobulins (IgG &IgA) to support a healthy gut and balanced immune response.
